Garden of Verses 2022: On Friday, September 30 at 12:00 pm Hawai‘i (3:00 pm Pacific, 6:00 pm Eastern), The Merwin Conservancy will gather virtually with friends around the world to celebrate the legacy of W.S. Merwin, on the occasion of his birthday. William Stanley Merwin was an American poet who wrote more than fifty books of poetry and prose, and produced many works in translation. During the 1960s anti-war movement, Merwin's unique craft was thematically characterized by indirect, unpunctuated narration.
“One of the things that’s hard to talk to people about is that knowledge is all that we know–which is admirable and impressive and fantastic and unique–is nothing in comparison with what we don’t know. And it will always be nothing–the unknown is always going to be far greater.” ~W.S. Merwin
