On Martin Luther King Jr. Day: A call for Reading, Writing, Understanding

It's Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We're not having a sale. There are better ways to commemorate the day.

King was architect of the nonviolent civil rights movement in the United States. He was a great orator. He was also the author of several books, including Stride Toward Freedom: The Montgomery Story, Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community?, and Why We Can’t Wait. His speeches, sermons, and writings are inspirational and timeless.

So today especially, we encourage booklovers to read, authors to write, and everybody to strive for understanding and to have faith in the future.

"The universe is on the side of justice." ~Martin Luther King, Jr., Stride Toward Freedom
