More and more events are being held online these days, and literary events are no exception. Wordplay 2021 (May 2-9) is a free online book festival reconnecting readers, writers, and great books. Here's the schedule for this week.
Wordplay launched in 2019 with 10,000 booklovers joining Stephen King, Edwidge Danticat, Amy Tan and other authors in a celebration of books. The festival is now online, and there is something for everyone. Whether your book club reads literary fiction or paranormal zombie romance, whether you get your books at your library or on your e-reader, or even if the last book you read was a movie, this festival is for you.
I was there for the Wordplay Kickoff conversation with Dean Koontz and James Lee Burke on May 2, and it was really well done. Don't miss Conversation with Cheryl Strayed (Thursday, May 6, 4 p.m. central time), and I highly recommend the Intercontinental Series: at noon central time each day, you'll meet the authors of some really incredible new books.
