In Bethlehem 2,000 years ago, nothing happened. In modern-day Memphis, Tennessee, 19-year-old gas station employee Belle Carter is visited by the archangel Gabriel and given the task of bearing the Son of God. After she agrees, Belle attempts to keep her new status a secret, fearing the world's judgement. However, thanks to a sinister influence, she is thrust into the spotlight after witnessing a violent crime.
