I Can't Breathe: The Never-Ending George Floyds by Earl Ofari Hutchinson

"The joy you feel is life." ~Gertrude Stein
Mark your calendar for June 22: In honor of PRIDE Month, Holocaust Museum LA presents a free online event: “The Daring Life and Dangerous Times of Eve Adams,” a virtual talk with Jonathan Ned Katz for his new book about pioneering lesbian activist Eve Adams (also known as Eva Kotchever). The book was published by our friends at Chicago Review Press, a leader in indie publishing.
Born Chawa Zloczewer into a Jewish family in Poland, Adams emigrated to the United States in 1912, took a new name, befriended anarchists, sold radical publications, and ran lesbian-and-gay-friendly speakeasies in Chicago and New York. Her New York after-theater club “Eve’s Hangout” is considered one of the first lesbian bars In America and is now recognized as a historic monument by both the National Park Service and the NYC LGBT Historic Sites Project.

Moments that used to define us...
Coming June 20: Special Father's Day Edition!
Father's Day is celebrated in various ways and on various dates in more than 110 countries around the world. In many European countries, it is celebrated on Saint Joseph's Day (March 19). In the United States, it is celebrated on the third Sunday in June.
Watch for a special edition of LitNuts on June 20 this year, which will feature books that would make great gifts for fathers, or great books for father's to enjoy with their children.
“Parents rarely let go of their children, so children let go of them. They move on. They move away. The moments that used to define them—a mother’s approval, a father’s nod—are covered by moments of their own accomplishments. It is not until much later, as the skin sags and the heart weakens, that children understand; their stories, and all their accomplishments, sit atop the stories of their mothers and fathers, stones upon stones, beneath the waters of their lives.” ~Mitch Albom, The Five People You Meet in Heaven
